Can I take Adcal d3 and Furosemide together?

Taking Adcal-D3 (calcium and vitamin D) with furosemide can lead to a build-up of calcium in your blood. It may also make your furosemide less effective at removing excess fluid from your body.

Why this happens

Furosemide is a 'water pill' that usually helps the kidneys get rid of calcium. However, Adcal-D3 adds extra calcium to your system. If the balance is off, calcium levels can rise too high (hypercalcaemia). Additionally, high calcium levels can sometimes interfere with how well furosemide works to reduce swelling or lower blood pressure.

You can usually take these together, but your doctor may want to perform regular blood tests to check your calcium levels and kidney function. If you experience symptoms of high calcium—such as feeling unusually thirsty, needing to urinate more often, constipation, or feeling sick—contact your doctor.
