Can I take Amlodipine and Manerix together?

Drug interaction guide

Taking these two medicines together can cause your blood pressure to drop lower than intended. This might make you feel dizzy, lightheaded, or faint, especially when standing up quickly. There is also a small risk that Manerix (moclobemide) could slightly increase the levels of amlodipine in your blood, making side effects like swollen ankles or flushing more likely.

Why this happens

Both drugs work to lower blood pressure, though in different ways. Manerix is an antidepressant that can have a mild blood-pressure-lowering effect, which adds to the effect of amlodipine. Additionally, Manerix may interfere with the liver enzymes that break down amlodipine, potentially leading to higher levels of the drug in your system.

You can usually take these together, but you should monitor your blood pressure more closely when starting or changing the dose of either medicine. To avoid dizziness, try to stand up slowly from a sitting or lying position. If you feel very dizzy, faint, or notice increased swelling in your legs, contact your doctor.
