Taking magnesium (often found in antacids or supplements) at the same time as fexofenadine can make the allergy medicine less effective. This means your hay fever or allergy symptoms might not be controlled as well as they should be.

Why this happens
Magnesium can bind to fexofenadine in the stomach or interfere with how it is absorbed into the bloodstream. This lowers the amount of medicine available in your body to fight your allergies.
What you should do
Back to contentsTo ensure your allergy medicine works properly, do not take magnesium supplements or antacids containing magnesium at the same time as fexofenadine. It is best to leave a gap of at least 2 hours between taking the two.
