Why this happens

Both medications have the side effect of lowering blood pressure. Ramipril is designed to do this to treat hypertension, while mirtazapine can cause this as an unintended side effect (orthostatic hypotension). When taken together, these effects can add up.

It is generally safe to take these together, but you should be careful when first starting the combination or increasing the dose. To prevent dizziness, try getting out of bed or up from a chair slowly. If you feel very dizzy or faint, sit or lie down immediately and contact your doctor to have your blood pressure checked.
