Why this happens
Both ashwagandha and magnesium can influence GABA receptors in the brain, which are responsible for relaxation. While they work in different ways, their combined effect can be additive, meaning they may enhance each other's calming properties.
What you should do

Taking magnesium on an empty stomach can sometimes cause diarrhoea or stomach upset. However, very high-fibre meals may slightly reduce the absorption of magnesium. For most people, taking magnesium with a light meal is the best way to avoid stomach irritation.
